01 · Why We Exist

Traffic tickets can be stressful, confusing, and far more costly than they first appear. For many drivers, the easiest option feels like simply paying the fine and moving on. The problem is that a conviction can carry consequences beyond the ticket itself, including demerits, increased insurance costs, licence suspensions, and a lasting impact on your driving record.

Prairie Tickets was created to give drivers a clear place to turn when they are unsure what to do next.

We help clients understand the charge they are facing, what the potential consequences may be, and what options are available. From reviewing the ticket and requesting disclosure to handling communication, paperwork, negotiations, and court appearances where permitted, we work to make the process as straightforward as possible.

We believe drivers should be able to make informed decisions about their traffic matters without feeling overwhelmed by the system.

Our goal is simple: provide clear information, responsive service, and strong representation throughout the process, while making sure every client understands what is happening with their file.

02 · What We Fight

Charges We Handle

Reduced

Speeding & Excessive Speeding

Radar, photo radar, or excessive-speed charges — the most common ticket on prairie highways.

Often resolved without a court appearance. Excessive-speed matters carry higher stakes and get priority review.

Fought For You

Distracted Driving

Phone, screen, or anything in hand behind the wheel.

Demerits and insurance impact add up fast on this one — we review every option before you plead anything.

Reduced

Careless Driving

A serious charge that’s often negotiable to something less severe.

We request full disclosure early — it’s usually the difference between a conviction and a reduction.

Dismissed

Stop Sign / Red Light

Intersection violations caught by camera or in person.

Camera-issued tickets have their own disclosure process — we know exactly what to request.

Fought For You

No Insurance & Documents

Missing insurance, registration, or licence paperwork.

Paperwork gaps are often fixable — we sort out what's missing before it becomes a bigger problem.

Reduced

Commercial Driver Violations

Your CDL is your paycheque — we move fast on these.

Commercial matters get priority handling given what a suspension would cost you.

Fought For You

Licence Suspensions

Reviews and appeals to help get you back on the road.

Timing matters — the sooner we're in your file, the more options are usually still open.

Alberta Only

Immediate Roadside Sanctions

IRS / SafeRoads reviews — a strict 7-day window to request one.

This is an Alberta-specific administrative program. Time is critical — contact us immediately if you've received one.

04 · Demerit Points

How Demerits Work, By Province

Demerit points get added to your driving record on conviction — not on the day you're ticketed. Enough of them, and your licence gets suspended. Here's how it breaks down.

15

Points before suspension · Class 5–6 (fully licensed)

Warning letter sent at 8 points. First suspension: one month.

8

Points before suspension · Class 7 & GDL / probationary

Warning letter sent at 4 points. First suspension: one month.

2 yrs

How long points stay on your record

Counted from your conviction date, not the ticket date.

PointsCommon offences
7Leaving the scene of a collision
6Speeding 51+ km/h over the limit · careless driving · failing to stop for a school bus
5Failing to stop at a railway crossing · not providing information to police after a collision
4Speeding 31–50 km/h over · failing to yield to a pedestrian · following too closely
3Speeding 16–30 km/h over · running a red light · failing to report an accident
2Speeding up to 15 km/h over · disobeying a traffic control device · unsafe turns
